Climate Change will impact us all. Predictions are for increased severity and occurrence of extreme weather events; rising sea levels; habitat destruction (ie. coral reefs); species extinctions will upset ecological balance further; our food systems will be impacted. The science is in, its real and we best start dealing with it.
The White Lemoroid Possum is found in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area of North Queensland. It is considered the Australian ”poster child” for climate change impacting species. In 2005 a severe heat wave caused a plummeting of its numbers, the last count of these white lemuroid possums in 2014 numbered just 4 individuals. This species will probably be one of a number of Australian species that will become extinct, in our lifetimes, primarily due to Climate Change.
